Sensory kits, books, and awareness so every Deaf and Hard of Hearing child feels included and understood.
Our mission is to ensure that Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children feel included, supported, and empowered in early educational environments. Through sensory-based learning kits, inclusive resources, and community partnerships, Kits Beyond Sound works to create classrooms that celebrate different ways of communicating and learning.
Kits Beyond Sound is a youth musician-led initiative dedicated to supporting children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Our team, made up of young musicians, is passionate about making sound and sensory learning more accessible for every child.
We place handmade KBS donation boxes in local schools, centers, synagogues, and community spaces to collect books, toys, and sensory-friendly items for children in need.
There is a major lack of understanding about what Deaf and Hard of Hearing children experience every day. We work to change that through youth-led education and posts that make these challenges visible and understood.
We also fundraise through bake sales and community events to purchase sensory toys and tools. All of our items/donations go directly Title I elementary schools special education programs and Deaf/HOH organizations.
KBS received $400 award from the Contribution Project hosted by the Cornell University Research Team in 2025.
